Papers Abstract

The papers are written around the study of space, time, space-time, perspective and dimensionality.
To have an analytical perception of space there is a requirement to understand if it is intrinsically linked and how it is linked to time which can vary with different cultures. This condition of integration of space with time is opposed to the condition where space and time become discrete entities. If space is separated from time then it will necessitate that space becomes absolute or pure. This pure space or absolute space instinctively does not exist, as it invariably cannot be imagined and similarly with time, the two being linked in the sub-conscious. Absolute space and absolute time do exist as a measure brought about by instrumentation or abstraction, however, as measurement of the part and not of the whole.
If we consider time’s three entities of past, present and future, can we also apply this to space?
Both time and space will contain a history, and both contain the present or the ‘moving now’. The ‘moving now’ is difficult to grasp due to cognitive subjectivity, it is difficult to know exactly what markers are being laid at a specific moment. Space and time in the future is conjecture although we try to influence it, however it travels its own course, and its memory and history remains to influence.
Perspective measurements such as three-dimensional linear perspective form a mapping of space and time where time becomes subordinate. Advanced perspective measurements add complexity but still from a similar mapping system. Many consider these systems a tyranny but finding new systems in what we see is elusive, as the morphology of our vision does not allow for the literal corrections our brain makes.
Whilst third dimension is a term used by both art and mathematics and has solid definition, at higher dimensions clarity and conflict occur in the language and definition in both disciplines has duality. This area is the gap that informs my base of study. WMF 28.04.2008
